in the home of Chef Karen Gros
Cooking Class Parties are a delicious way to celebrate birthdays, bridal showers, and holiday parties ~ or any time you have a special occasion to celebrate with friends. Gift Certificates are available, too.
You and your friends will enjoy an intimate time of gourmet food and fun. French Culinary Instructor Karen Gros will share her passion for high-quality food, and provide you with culinary techniques and tips, as well as copies of the recipes.
Cuisine Karen can bring culinary classes to your own home for a private class with your friends, family, or colleagues. Or you may prefer to have the class at the home of Chef Karen in Eureka Springs. You and Karen will select which dishes to feature. But first, you must choose between the Culinary Demonstration Class or the Hands-on & Fine-Dining Class.

Culinary Demonstration Class
What to Expect:
Relax & witness the preparation of 2-3 seasonal dishes.
Sample a taste of each dish.
Class size is 6-20. Recipes provided.
During a demonstration class, you watch and learn, while Chef Karen demonstrates the preparation and cooking of the menu. You will learn the technique or specific skill in slicing or chopping a given ingredient (such as basil chiffonade or carrots sliced julienne). Knife saftey is reviewed in every class.
You will then be offered samples of each dish that is prepared, along with fresh salad greens from Patou's Gardens, homemade vinaigrette, and freshly baked bread from The Little Bread Company.
Duration is 3 hours, 10:00am – 1:00pm

Hands-on & Fine-Dining Class
What to Expect:
Together we will cook, present and
dine on an appetizer, entrée, and dessert…
Your apron awaits you!
Class size limited to 12. Recipes provided.
Everyone is presented with an apron and dishtowel to use during the class. Together, we prepare the meal from start to finish, present & serve the food by course. You will then savor the creations during a sit-down luncheon complete with a glass of wine. The wine is chosen to specifically complement the meal. The meal concludes in the French style with a cup of coffee and dark chocolate served after dessert. Everyone then pitches in for a quick clean-up.
Duration is 4 ½ hours, 10:00am – 2:30pm

Price Chart

The prices are based in US dollars starting in July, 2006. Groups smaller than six may participate; however, the minimum charge for a Private Demonstration Class Party is $350, while the minimum charge for a Private Hands-on & Fine-Dining Class Party is $550.
The price is all inclusive, and covers shopping, ingredients, instruction, supervision and assistance, and printed recipes, as well as use of the facility La Lavande or driving expenses to off-site location within a 30-minute radius of Eureka Springs. For events further than a 30-minute drive, please add a flat-rate of $50.

Terms and Conditions
- Prices: The prices are based in US dollars starting in July, 2006. The price is all inclusive; and covers shopping, ingredients, instruction, supervision and assistance, and printed recipes, as well as use of the facility La Lavande and/or driving expenses to off-site location within a one-hour radius of Eureka Springs.
- Billing conditions: To reserve, 30% of the total bill will be required. The remainder of the bill must be paid the day of the event. The exact number of participants must be confirmed at least two weeks in advance of the cooking event. The final bill will be based on this number of confirmed participants.
- Making Your Reservation: Reservations for a Private Cooking Party must be placed at least three weeks in advance of date of cooking event. In order to best satisfy your needs, it is recommended to reserve at the earliest possible date. In order to maintain high quality and freshness of proposed products, Karen maintains close contacts with local producers and suppliers, and thus reserves the right to modify the menu or certain selections depending upon availability and quality.
- Cancellation Policy: In the event of the cancellation of a Private Cooking Party, refund of the deposit will be calculated upon the following conditions:
- Cancellations up to one month before date of cooking event:
100% of deposit will be refunded.
- Cancellations between 2-4 weeks before date of cooking event:
50% of deposit will be refunded.
- Cancellations less than two weeks before date of cooking event:
No refund of deposit.
In event of cancellation on the part of Cuisine Karen due to illness, accident, other personal trauma, or external hazard, you will be given the choice of a 100% refund of your deposit or to reschedule your cooking party.
